Just enough for today. Just enough to get by. But all we need.

How peaceful would our life be if we actually followed Jesus? If we prayed and sought what He says here? If we stopped worrying about tomorrow… No really.. Stopped. So much so that each day, today, was our focus.

How silly we are to concern ourselves with the future. Will you live to see tomorrow? How do you know? Each day may be our last! Some who read these words, will see the end of their days this very day. It’s true no matter how much we wish to ignore it! So why ignore it?

Jesus clearly said here and other places in scripture that today is our focus. Not tomorrow, not yesterday. But only today. Do we have faith? Do we trust God? If so, Jesus says to concentrate on what is necessary for today. It is enough.

Does this mean no planning? Of course not. It does mean that we keep all in perspective. We do not live for tomorrow, we live for now by following God’s plan for tomorrow, today! The ultimate plan is to know from God each day what is best for today. If we are living His plan, not ours, that is enough. He has the plan!

Moses was an idiot by today’s measure. Ever consider what he did? He took hundreds of thousands of people out into a desert with no map, no food, no water, no means to care for themselves. How would we view such a political leader today who did something like that? But, Moses trusted God for today. God said go, and he left! He didn’t plan, he acted on God’s word.

Today they tell our children to plan their entire life before leaving high school. Why? Because it blocks God’s daily direction! It preempts Gods plan for that child’s life. Moses would never have left if he had worked out a plan first, because it was an impossible task! He would have realized it can’t be done! These young people can never realize God’s potential for their life if they must plan according to what’s possible today. How sad!

Jesus calls us to concentrate on today, right after praying that God’s will be done, not ours. This is both submission and faith.

The question is, do YOU trust Him? If so… Pray for today’s bread, trust for tomorrow to be God’s plan, and live your prayer!
